Petronas Twin Tower Trip Malaysia Day 3

My 3rd day here in Malaysia started bad. I feel very sick. My sore throat is trying to kill me. Since we've nothing in plan I decided to just cook my own breakfast (they have it without me so I don't have any choice) and laundry my clothes.

While figuring out how the washing machine works I heard someone greeting me good morning.

Mrs Swong

She said I can call her Mrs Swong. She lives right next our back door and she's a buddhist. We had lots of conversation about Setia City Mall, Malaysian Culture, and religion. According to her my experience on Day 1 about the locals who don't speak english is impossible. Most locals speaks and understand english. She bet those I spoke with are either foreigners from Bangladesh or Nepal. She said they have lots of workers from different countries and if I can't distinguish them physically, I just need to listen.

The sticky feeling

My conversation with Mrs Swong ended when I told her that I need to go back with my laundry. The weather makes me feel so sick. It's hot and sticky that I had to bath 3x just to feel ok.

After my chores I sleep all day and awaken by mom to cook dinner.

I thought this long day will end up nothing. Surprisingly, my sister decided to tour us around Kuala Lumpur.

Walang pakialaman sa amoy!!! I like their LRT huh! Mabilis, malamig, at maganda ang lift. Yun lang ano iba talaga ang ibang amoy. Makasalanan. #JOTG

We headed first to Petaling Jaya for my sister's intro to diving class at Sea Monkey.  After that we ride their LRT station that looks very similar to our railway stations in the Philippines. The only difference is, it's much more organized, they don't have escalators, but they do have FUNCTIONAL elevators. I find it also cute that they grow up plant boxes outside the railways, as it's very pleasing to the eyes.

From Petaling Jaya to KLCC (where Petronas is) you only need to spend 10 RM one way. We grab a car on our way home because we're all tired and famished.

On our way to the tower, my sister suddenly started looking for ATM's. I told her that she should have done it earlier. Me and my mom started to get really tired when she suddenly tells us "You know, where we are right now?", nobody answered her. "Where inside petronas!" Slowly, we walked our way out of the building and was really amazed with the beautiful structure.

I almost forgot the heavy bag I'm carrying. It's as if fireworks display suddenly appears up in the air. This iconic tower proved it's worth for all the time we spent travelling.

This trip concludes the beginning of my freaking adventures outside PH and my fucking comfort zone.

Short trip to Setia City Mall in Shah Alam, Selangor Malaysia Day 2

12/23/2015 Japhet 0 Comments

It's my second day here in Malaysia and mom keeps on cleaning all things she can see in our room. It's as if she owns the house. Hahaha! I woke up forcing her to stop watering our neighbors plants because they may find us intruding with their property. She just giggle.

Dech (my sister), is still at work. She'll be on leave on the 24th of December so this left us nothing, but to wait. Waiting is not my thing so I volunteered with the grocery. Unfortunately, as much as I want to be left alone, my mom with annoying velma accompanied me to the nearest mall.

The walk

According to google maps, it will be a 30 minutes walk from our location, but with them it took us an hour. We went out at exactly 3pm expecting that the sun will set soon, but damn it didn't! Their 3pm feels like 12nn in Manila.

On our way to Setia City Mall I noticed a lot of constructions in the area. The firm clearly destroyed what seems to be mountain like structure to build houses on it. It's really a sad view.

Setia City Mall

After the exhausting walk we finally reached the mall. I was advised by the security guard that taking videos inside the mall is prohibited so yeah...whatever.

We headed directly to their food court with the belief that most authentic dishes are there. Tipid pa kasi I only have 200 RM in my pocket. We're trying to look for something different yet we didn't find any so we just eat whatever we can order.

Nothing really feels new about this mall so let's move on.

Frustrated Shopper

To be honest, sumakit talaga ulo ko. We spent an hour looking for my desired ingredients or atleast man lang similar pero it's really hard to determine. They don't have pork so I opted to buy beef and lamb since I don't eat chicken. In their fruits and vegetable section you'll notice lots of dried goods. Pati yung mukhang Pechay nila na gulay may dried version. Tofu here comes in many sizes and mushrooms are very abundant. Sorry I wasn't able to take that much photos. In the zone masyado sa pamimili. Hahaha!

The Crows

On our way home, we've noticed a bunch of huge crows hanging by a tree. Tropa tropa ata sila dito eh but I think the smaller ones are just glossy starlings. They made our journey pretty interesting and a bit scary when 5 of them started following us.

Check out video below about this short trip.

We all know what happened to #MissUniverse2015 and we are all sorry for the girls ,but yes! You've read the title right. This is a tremendously biased post, so walk away if you don't want to get hurt. This contains some of the nastiest feeds found online on why Miss Colombia doesn't deserve that crown.

1. She should have answered the final question with a bang!

Why Miss Colombia doesn't deserve the title #MissUniverse2015?

2. She should have loved her translator

8. And finally, she doesn't deserve the title because after all the proofs raised, most of her fans still cannot accept their defeat. Including maybe, Miss Germany? LOL!

Miss Colombia doesn't deserve to be this humiliated, but I guess her fans asked for it. Their rants made it bigger. Why can't they just move on? Let it go and accept the fact that it's the Philippines time to reign the world...the Universe rather.

Get lost in Malaysia Day 1

#JOTG: Malaysia Trip Day 1

No! I can't afford to get lost here. My only plan is to spend Christmas and New Year with my sister ( and not knowing my whereabouts is not an option (I'm not really an OTG person). Hindi ako nakapag-papalit ng pera, although there are a lot of money changers here, I still don't want to over spend because I don't have a lot. This is my first out of the country trip so please excuse my ignorance.

Feels just like home

A photo posted by Japhet (@japhetonthego) on

It seems to me that there's nothing really new with Malaysia upon my arrival. Although, it's fun to know that their sun sets at 7pm and rises at 7am, it still feels just like home. A more organized Manila I guess. The road is clear on a Monday night and I really wonder how or if they ever experience traffic jam liked  EDSA since they have lots of exit points. Oh well, di ko na ikukumpara.

I think the only adjustment I will do is with communicating with their locals who don't speak english. Hindi naman ako kagalingan sa english grammar, but it's really tough

Comm Skills Eklavu

My sister told me not speak "Mabaho" when I feel like saying it because they know what it means. She also said that they are well aware of "Mahal" (Expensive), so the whole time we are looking for food to eat, I was trying to avoid it. We are using our universal language Beki Lingo (Gay Lingo), which really comes handy ah. Hahaha!  According to our Malaysian diver driver, (yeah! he's a diving instructor according to him) Malay is very easy to study because you pronounce it the way you read it. And then there's a long moment of silence.

Clumsy Clariss is now Grumpy Clariss

I insisted on Malaysian food when I am famished to death because of Cebu Pacific's delayed flight. And because I don't like to eat McDonalds or other fast food chains on our way home, my sister brought me to Malaysia's version of Karinderia. I noticed Dech (my sister clariss) talks in a different manner with the locals. She sounds so grumpy, but direct to the point and I feel like she's being rude so I compromised. She said it's normal so people will not look down on her especially when she is trying hard to speak their language. I still doesn't think it's a good idea until something that doesn't feel good happened to me.

That thing called Patola

I was checking out some other foods while my sister is paying for our bills. I went inside a small canteen and ask how much a certain dish costs. Everyone starts speaking their language and I really did not understand a thing. I said "English Only Please" and everyone starts laughing. I feel so weird, but really feel like laughing with them too. Their laughter is contagious, but I just went out and pretended to be my sister's shadow the entire time.

I badly want to learn their language and go back there, pero patola naman labas ko nun. Not a bad thing after all. I just felt soooo out of place so I walked my way out and let it go. Besides, this is their country and I am doomed to adjust or get lost.

Let's see what will happen tomorrow.

If you have plans of going here, FYI:

#StarWarsTheForceAwakens Spoiler Free Review

12/16/2015 Japhet 0 Comments

Alright,  I’ll try my best to keep this post as neat as I can be, but if you are a fan, I must tell you that this continuation is a MUST see! It is very nostalgic as J.J. Abrams created #StarWarsTheForceAwakens like an old-fashioned movie full of celebrated iconic images from the original trilogy.
